MICRONEEDLING
Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that stimulates collagen and elastin production, promoting cell turnover for improved skin texture and tone. It reduces the appearance of enlarged pores, refines rough skin, and evens out pigmentation caused by age spots or sun damage.
During the treatment, a numbing cream is applied, and the microneedling device is gently moved over your skin, creating micro-injuries. These micro-injuries trigger the body's natural healing response, leading to increased collagen and elastin production, resulting in a refreshed, youthful complexion.
It may take several weeks to notice the full results of your microneedling treatment. Over time, you will see significant improvements in your skin’s texture, tone, and overall appearance, resulting in fresher, smoother, and more even-looking skin. Depending on your specific goals and skin condition, multiple sessions—typically spaced several weeks apart—may be recommended to achieve optimal results. Regular treatments can help maintain these benefits and keep your skin looking its best.

-
SCHEDULING. Schedule your microneedling treatment at least 2-4 weeks before any special event, such as a wedding or vacation, to ensure optimal results and allow any potential redness or peeling to subside.
For enhanced results, consider combining microneedling with PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin), which can accelerate healing and boost effectiveness. Learn more about this option on our "Liquid Gold | PRP" page.
-
DISCONTINUE CERTAIN PRODUCTS: Discontinue use of Retin A, retinols, Vitamin A creams, and other topical medications for 3-5 days before and after your microneedling treatment.
-
SUN EXPOSURE: Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds, including self-tanning products, for a minimum of 24 hours and preferably one week before and after the treatment. Sun exposure increases the risk of hypopigmentation (white spots) or hyperpigmentation (dark spots), both of which could last for several months or even permanently. Microneedling will not be administered on sunburned skin.
-
MEDICATIONS: Discontinue Accutane and any other photosensitizing medication for at least 6 months before receiving treatment and during your course of treatment.
-
CHEMICAL PEELS AND HAIR REMOVAL: Avoid chemical peels on the treatment area for 2 weeks before and after the procedure. Avoid waxing and chemical depilatories for 2 weeks before and after the treatment. Shaving is allowed immediately before treatment and 48-72 hours after treatment as long as there is no skin irritation.
-
HEALTH CONDITIONS: You may not receive microneedling if you are pregnant, lactating, taking blood thinners, have been treated for skin cancer in the treatment area, or have acne or open lesions in the treatment area. Surgical scars must be healed for six months prior to microneedling.
-
SCARRING: If you are prone to keloid scarring, please consult your doctor before receiving treatment.
-
COLD SORES: If you have a history of cold sores, use prophylactic antiviral therapy, such as Valtrex® or Acyclovir, before your treatment. Follow the directions prescribed by your doctor.
-
TATTOOS & PERMANENT MAKUP. Please notify your provider if you have any tattoos, including cosmetic tattooing, in the vicinity of the area to be treated, as tattoos must be avoided. That includes permanent makeup and micro-blading.
